Memorial Day
Memorial Day seems to be more about cookouts and ballgames and going to the lake... we get so excited about the extra day off and forget about why we celebrate Memorial Day in the first place. We must remember what it's about. I found this picture today that says it all...

And it wouldn't be right if daddy didn't get his own RUN DMC shirt, too!
Daddy "packing" Wilson on his back. Micheal was messing with his new GPS in all these pictures. That's why he looks like he has no idea I'm snapping photos. Go figure! The GPS batteries died halfway through the hike.
We got all the way down to the waterfall and Wilson kept saying
"Get outta here, daddy! Let's go!"
Really? After ALL that effort? You want to GO?
And we ran into (well, not literally, we drove around him) a turtle in the middle of the road!
After we returned home I knew Isabella felt pretty warm & I told Wilson "Mommy's going to take Isabella's temperature." To that he replied "Take my temperature, Mommy. I need medicine, Mommy." I told him that he was being silly & tickled him. Whoa... he really was hot! So, blah blah blah... I have 2 sick kids now. Boo. Two fevers. Tylenol isn't helping. Isabella is puking and won't drink anything. Ugh! Wilson did eat dinner, but as he was finishing up his hot dog I was just envisioning it being regurgitated in the middle of the night! Yuck!
Let's hope for the best.

We spent a nice Memorial Day together taking the kids on their first hike. We did a short hike (on the Natchez Trace Pkwy) that ended at a waterfall. The hike back up was a little harder. I had Isabella in the baby bjorn (an extra 20 lbs on my front) and Micheal had Wilson in the backpack (an extra 32 lbs on his back). Shew! At any rate, we were fortunate that the rain held off and we enjoyed the day outside. Oh, and we saw a snake peeking out of a hole in a tree. Ahhh, scary!

Good times!

I'm a big boy now!
I can hardly believe this boy is TWO!
It seems like yesterday I was pregnant with him and wondering what he was going to look like, act like, what kind of child he was going to be. He is such a blessing in our lives. He is definitely full of energy, and everyone says he is "all boy". I've figured out that is the polite way of saying "oh my, your child certainly is a rambunctious little devil!"But underneath the energetic, wild-child is a sweet, precious, polite little angel. He loves mommy & daddy and his baby sister. He will stop in the middle of playing with his toys and go over to Isabella and kiss her. And he says "please" and "thank you" without being told. He goes down for bed without a fight and sleeps 12 hours straight. When he wakes up in the morning the very first thing he does is ask me "Is Isabella awake?" and then "Is Isabella happy?" He gives the best hugs & kisses in the whole wide world. And he is "mommy's boy" or "daddy's boy" or "Memaw's boy" or "Nonna's boy" or "Isabella's boy" depending on WHO is asking him!
Now I can not remember what life was like before our little guy came along! What did I do with ALL that free time?!
Wilson's big 2nd birthday was on the 12th... and his party was on the 16th. I've been quite busy these past 2 weeks, and am just now getting around to posting. The big b-day gift from mommy & daddy was this cool playset for the backyard! Daddy spent several hours after work, in the dark putting it together, too! He's such a wonderful daddy! Doesn't it look GREAT?
Good thing Isabella enjoys swinging outside, too!
She's a little daddy's girl... Isn't this priceless?
The big "event" lately (other than the b-day) was that Micheal's mom (Memaw) flew in from sunny Florida to hang out with us for Wilson's big party weekend. Well, it was her birthday too! We couldn't think of a better birthday gift than for her to be able to spend the weekend with BOTH of her boys! That's right, we flew Micheal's brother Steven in from Arkansas for the weekend as a surprise for Memaw! She had no clue, and they both showed up at the airport to pick her up! I wish I could have been there to see the look on her face!

Not an easy task
All I wanted was a family picture. Apparently not gonna happen anytime soon. Since Isabella was born I think we've managed to get ONE family picture. At any given moment, someone is not cooperating. Maybe in a few years we'll get one. This is the best we can do for now. Maybe I could photoshop Isabella's face in there somewhere?
Oh, and that little boy is about to turn TWO years old! I can hardly believe it. It's so bittersweet watching him grow up. Each phase he enters is so fun and seems like the best time ever... but I also miss the baby boy! He's so smart and independent and inquisitive... he definitely keeps us on our toes!
And our sweet babydoll will be turning 7 months old next week too! I teared up the other day when I realized that in 5 months we're going to be celebrating her first birthday. Seriously, where is the time going? But, again, every day she is more beautiful and more fun & interactive. I can't wait for her to be walking around and really able to play with Wilson... but at the same time, NO---- I don't want her to grow up. EVER!

Can't time just SLOW down a bit?
Here's a sneak peek at Wilson & Isabella's recent pictures our photographer took. Just in case you haven't heard, she's the best photographer around.
Seriously, go to her website and see for yourself!

You can't really tell that they were not being perfect angels, can you? I can not believe this little stinker boy is about to turn TWO YEARS OLD! And sweet Isabella is 6 months. Where is the time going?
