What baby doll?

Ok, so this is just a normal picture of Wilson playing (AKA: trying to stick one toy inside another toy it doesn't belong in). Notice anything peculiar about this picture?

Probably not, huh? Let's examine further...

Yes, folks, that's Wilson's beloved baby doll. Or should I say "former" beloved baby doll. Now that Isabella's arrived, his baby doll spends most of her days like this. Poor thing has been demoted to standing on her head upside-down in one of Wilson's many toy-bins. Oh, but since he saw me taking a picture of her, I've caught his attention... Maybe he wants to feed her a bottle...

Oops... maybe not. Maybe that bottle is just another toy forced into the wrong place...

Oh, the funny things kids do! At any rate... I can't finish without including today's picture of Wilson's real baby. Man, he sure does love this little girl!!!

It's all about the boy...

I decided to make a post just about Wilson... Since he's been such a trooper the past 2 weeks! He's handled all these changes so well, and enjoys being our little helper. He has grown up so much and is doing lots of new things & saying TONS of new words! What a big boy! This is just a snip-it of what he's been up to lately...

Daddy got a new Star Wars helmet, and they had to try it out! Wilson loved it... and now the helmet resides on the top of Wilson's bookshelf. I think Micheal wants people to think it's Wilson's... but, NO, it's Micheal's.

Wilson just being his cute little self. He likes to say "CHEESE!" when he sees the camera. So cute, but creates funny facial expressions like this:

He was throwing a fit, and it was actually sort of cute. So I grabbed the camera. And, well, he decided to stop and model for me. So here he is... the new Old Navy toddler model:

And here's his disappearing act:

And this is what happens when I leave him in a room by himself for about 15 seconds. Keep in mind, he was in a totally baby/toddler-proof nursery... go figure!

Prettiest baby I've seen all day!

We ventured out on Monday for our first family outing. Sadly, it was to take Grandma (or should we say "MeeMaw") to the airport to go back home to Florida. But, on the way we stopped at McAlister's to grab a bite for lunch. I'll have to say that both children were very good during our lunch date (if you forgive Wilson's tantrums here & there). Then we made a run to the airport :( We'll all miss having her around... but Wilson will especially miss her. They were BIG buddies this past week!
On the way back towards home we stopped to see Nana (Wilson & Isabella's great-grandmother). Nana LOVES being visited by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always tells us our visit was the "highlight" of her day! Now that makes you feel good, doesn't it!
Well, Nana enjoyed our visit and the chance to hold her newest great-grandchild Isabella. And Nana told us that Isabella was "the prettiest baby I've seen ALL DAY!" Now, for those of you fortunate enough to have known Papa... that was surely a Papa comment! It was absolutely true... and didn't hurt anyone's feelings, cause she was the ONLY baby she had seen all day! I guess when you have SO many grandchildren, you have to learn how to use your words wisely. Papa would always tell me things like "you're my favorite one that has been by today" but never let on that maybe I was the ONLY one that had been there that day! Of course, that didn't stop me from telling my sisters that Papa told me I was his favorite! (Of course, I really was, he just wouldn't have wanted to hurt their feelings)

Nana and Isabella

Wilson's getting used to the idea of being a big brother. In fact, he's already bossing her around and chasing all the boys away from her! Just kidding! He has gotten much more interested in her over the past couple of days. He likes to kiss her and he really likes to push her in her swing. Unfortunately, he likes to swing high.

And last, but not least, Isabella got her first little bath at home. It was just a "bird bath" as we call it... but we scrubbed her clean & washed her hair. She was not too happy about all of this, but she seemed to like the finished product! And, it wore her out! After her bath she slept for 4 hours straight! That was nice for mommy & daddy... only had to get up twice during the night! What a good little baby...

We are surviving!

So we've survived 2... yes, count them, one, TWO nights at home with Isabella. It's been a busy couple of days! Wilson has adjusted well, considering his world has been altered quite a bit! He loves to say "baby" anytime he hears her cry. He also likes to point at her and then poke her head... so we're working on being "gentle". But overall, he usually ignores her and goes about his normal stuff (playing, eating crackers, etc). It has helped out A LOT to have Grandma and Uncle Steve here. They have been a great way to keep Wilson entertained while Micheal & I do baby stuff... without Wilson feeling like we've forgotten about him.

Isabella has been quite a trooper. She loves to sleep during the day. Thus, saves all her energy for nightime! Yay! Micheal & I are SO excited about that! No, really, we're hoping to re-train her little body to actually sleep at night! But we can't complain... she's happy, content, eats well, and HEALTHY! So we're thankful (even at 2 am, 3 am, 4 am, etc...)

Isabella soaking up some rays (hoping to make her jaundice go away)

Micheal awaking to his sweet children, it can't get much better than that!

Me and my little angels (and trying to make sure Wilson doesn't harm her in any way)

Wilson has figured out how to make Isabella's seat play music! He's such a big helper!

Murphy has accepted his role as Isabella's personal body guard. All those stinky boys better watch out!

A day in the life...

So I'm sitting here at the hospital in a quiet room with Micheal sleeping (ok, so it's not totally quiet cause he snores) and Isabella is being a sweet little baby laying awake in the basinette. She is just gorgeous and has been such a well-behaved little girl so far! We really are blessed!

It's been a super busy couple of days... lots of learning, adjustment, and visitors. We're so glad we have such wonderful family and friends that take care of us and make sure we have everything we need. For example, Micheal really needed a burger from Five Guys Burgers and good ole Valerie pulled through to save the day! And, just as I was almost tempted to eat the "lunch" the hospital provides, my wonderful sister Jenny came on in and ordered Jimmy John's sandwiches for us... whew! Thank goodness I didn't have to eat that hospital food!! And, we ended up with TWO boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts (right outta Micheal's dreams).

All kidding aside... we are so thankful for everything and everyone. Here are a few pictures of Isabella on her first full day... and what a busy day it was!

Wilson was finally brave enough to peek through and look at her.
So sweet! And he finally gave her a big, wet, slobbery kiss on the nose!
